31-year-old Manuel Aviles was arrested yesterday following several incidents that started in Branford last Wednesday. Aviles was involved in a crash near the intersection of North Main and North Ivy Streets. He fled the accident site and attempted to carjack another vehicle. This led to other successful carjacking attempts as Aviles tried to avoid arrest. He ended up in New Haven and was apprehended after a failed attempt to carjack a vehicle driven by a female motorist. The victim was able to fend off Aviles but was injured in the process. The suspect is currently facing multiple charges, including first-degree larceny, attempted larceny, robbery by carjacking, and third-degree assault.

It’s important to take note of this because people injured due to reckless or negligent behavior, regardless of circumstances, may have the option of filing for damages if legal experts deem it as an appropriate course of action.

Ansonia – Highway Crash Update

Authorities have identified motorists involved in last Saturday’s highway incident in Ansonia.

John Mulrooney of Prospect was driving his Toyota Tacoma on Route 8 North with one passenger when they were rear-ended by an Infiniti in the area of Exit 19 (Wakelee Avenue). The collision forced the pickup truck to hit a guardrail before falling down an embankment. Both motorists sustained injuries and were tended to by responding EMS personnel. The Infiniti was driven by Jahrell Noble of Watertown. The car was occupied by four motorists at the time of the crash and Noble immediately fled the accident site. According to officials, Noble was tailgating and overspeeding that evening, factors that contributed to the collision.

It’s likely that panic causes accident culprits to flee crash sites, but this doesn’t mitigate the fact that instances of hit-and-run will only make cases worse for suspects. That said, people who are injured due to the negligent actions of these individuals are advised to seek legal guidance so that their cases can be thoroughly evaluated. Under appropriate circumstances, experts might recommend filing for damages as a course of action.

Farmington – Injuries In Hit-And-Run Incident

Two bike riders were injured by a hit-and-run driver in Farmington last Saturday.

At around 4:15 p.m., authorities received reports of an accident on Fienemann Road and immediately dispatched emergency crews to the area. 61-year-old Cheryl Noad was driving north when her vehicle suddenly veered left, hitting two boys (12 and 13 years old) riding their bicycles in the area. Instead of stopping, Noad fled the area. Responders found the two riders injured and immediately transported them to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for treatment of various injuries, including a leg fracture. A short time later, officials received a call from a concerned motorist reporting a damaged vehicle traveling on I-84. Noad was eventually apprehended and given a field sobriety test which she failed. She was taken into custody and is now facing charges of DUI and reckless driving, among other violations. She is currently free on bond and waiting for her court hearing.

Instances of hit-and-run would, in practically all cases, only aggravate cases against suspects already accused of other road violations. Motorists involved in similar situations should be aware of their rights and options, particularly in cases where negligence has been established. Legal experts can help aggrieved parties pursue these avenues so that they can find closure as quickly as possible.

Waterbury – Head-On Crash Driver Charged

A motorist who caused a head-on collision in Waterbury last June has just been charged by authorities.

Back in June, 25-year-old Yusef Rawls was driving his black Acura west on East Plank Road when he suddenly swerved onto the opposite lane, crashing into a Honda Accord with several occupants. Two motorists were trapped inside the second vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders. They were treated on-site then transported to the hospital for treatment. Instead of stopping, Rawls fled the crash site — he was eventually found and apprehended. A subsequent investigation has established negligence on the part of Rawls, leading up to last Tuesday’s filing of charges against him. He is currently waiting for his time in court.

In most cases, authorities/investigators would require this much time to thoroughly establish accountability in road-related incidents. It’s important for officials to accurately identify causes/culprits, and it speaks to the dedication the law enforcement community will always exhibit when dealing with these events. These things said, victims of incidents involving reckless behavior or negligence will, under appropriate circumstances, have options that can help them cope and find closure. Legal experts have the means of guiding aggrieved parties through this process.
