Hartford – Guilty Plea In Pedestrian Incident

A motorist just pleaded guilty to charges related to a pedestrian crash in Hartford.

At around 10:45 p.m. on September 3, 2018, 47-year-old Chante Tucker was attempting to cross the intersection of Garden Street and Albany Avenue (Route 44) when a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 25-year-old Keyvon Cook, hit her. Tucker was thrown about 100 feet from the car and was fatally wounded. She died the following day at the hospital. Instead of stopping, Cook immediately fled the scene. Last Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to charges of making a false statement to police and evading responsibility. His sentencing is scheduled for December 17.

While in many instances the process of bringing crash suspects to justice can take months, we can be assured that authorities will always exhaust all measures to complete their investigations and establish accountability. This process can also benefit crash victims or their families in other ways. For example, if investigators discover negligent behavior in specific cases, this might allow aggrieved parties to file for damages as an effective way of finding closure after these traumatic events.

Middletown – Pedestrian Crash Update

Authorities just released updates related to last Thursday’s pedestrian incident in Middletown.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on October 3, a man was attempting to cross the roadway at the intersection of Newfield and Westfield Streets when he was hit by a motorcycle whose operator then fled the scene. According to official reports, the victim was walking at a designated crosswalk when he was hit. He sustained multiple injuries in the incident, including a leg fracture. Yesterday, local police released images that could help them and the public track down the hit-and-run suspect. Anyone with info about the incident is encouraged to contact Middletown Police as soon as possible.

Witness reports have helped authorities solve various road incidents in the past, so it’s not surprising that improving road safety depends on the contributions that the general public makes regularly. Obviously, establishing accountability is important, not just to bring culprits to justice, but also to allow injured parties to pursue various legal options that can help them find closure.

Enfield – Officials Looking For Hit-And-Run Suspect

Local authorities are still looking for a suspect involved in a recent crash in Enfield.

On September 29, an accident occurred on Route 190 (Hazard Road), just in front of Big Y. According to official reports, a car and a motorcycle collided in the area. The motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries and had to be transported to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the car fled the area and is still at large. The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s and was driving a black Nissan Altima at the time of the crash. Authorities are asking anyone who may have info about the suspect to contact them as soon as possible.

In some cases, reports and information from witnesses can prove useful in identifying and apprehending crash suspect/culprits. As motorists plying various roads in the state, we can all contribute to make all roads safer for everyone. That said, we should also be aware of our legal rights when involved in road incidents. In cases where negligence has been identified, we may have the option to seek damages as deemed appropriate by legal experts.

Bridgeport – Pedestrian Hit-And-Run Incident

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Bridgeport early yesterday morning.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., local officials were alerted to a pedestrian incident on Madison Avenue. Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Madison and Capitol Avenues and discovered a pedestrian who was hit by a passing car. The vehicle was not at the scene when officers arrived. EMS crews quickly tended to the victim, while other crews blocked off the area to allow investigators to collect evidence. Authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the injured pedestrian pending an investigation. They are also requesting possible witnesses and anyone with relevant info to contact them as soon as possible.

While it’s likely that panic or emotional distress can contribute to incidents of hit-and-run, it doesn’t take away the fact that running away only makes things worse of suspects/culprits. Suffice it to say, authorities will exhaust all means to bring these people to justice. Not only that, injured parties may also have the option of filing for damages if deemed appropriate by legal experts.

Middletown – Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Incident

Authorities are currently looking for a motorcycle rider who hit a pedestrian in Middletown last Thursday.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., a 50-year-old man was attempting to cross Newfield Street, near its intersection with Westfield Street, when he was hit by a dirt bike traveling south on the same road. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries in the hit, including a fractured leg. Instead of stopping, the rider of the motorcycle immediately fled the area, going through a red light in the process. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and looking for the hit-and-run suspect. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact Middletown Police.

In any case or situation, instances of hit-and-run will only worsen cases against suspects/culprits. Suffice it to say, bringing these perpetrators to justice is the primary goal of crash investigators. It’s also important to remember that if we are ever involved in road accidents that result in injuries, we also have options at our disposal to help us cope and eventually find closure. Talking to legal experts can help us make sense of these options.

Berlin – Hit-And-Run On The Highway

State and local officials are currently investigating a highway crash in Berlin that occurred yesterday morning.

According to officials, at approximately 10:23 a.m., a still-unidentified car was driving south on Route 9 when it hit a pedestrian near Exit 23. Instead of stopping, the driver of the car fled the area and has yet to be located. The victim sustained critical injuries in the incident and was pronounced dead soon after. Authorities are still investigating the crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have seen the suspect to contact the state or local police as soon as possible.

In practically all scenarios, instances of hit-and-run will only aggravate cases against drivers who are suspected of hitting other motorists or pedestrians. As victims of suspected reckless or negligent behavior, parties injured in these incidents may have the option of filing for damages under appropriate circumstances and with the help of expert legal counsel.

Norwalk – DUI/Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested

A motorist was arrested in Norwalk following a pedestrian incident last Saturday.

A 32-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross North Main Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. when a white Ford Fusion hit him. Instead of stopping, the driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene. The victim sustained facial injuries and was transported by responders to Norwalk Hospital for treatment. Officials started searching for the suspect and, after pursuing a lead from a witness, was apprehended before the on-ramp to I-95. According to police, the driver, 37-year-old Cameron Davis, failed a sobriety test and was taken into custody. He is currently facing counts of assault with a motor vehicle and driving under the influence, among other charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 8.

Pedestrian accidents almost always result in serious injuries, and these cases are only aggravated by instances of hit-and-run and/or driving under the influence. Following these cases is useful because they inform us of the circumstances surrounding these incidents, and our options if ever we or our loved ones are involved in similar situations. Suffice it to say, talking to legal experts can be beneficial in these situations.

Bristol – Suspect Enters Plea In DUI Incident

A DUI suspect just pleaded not guilty to charges related to a pedestrian incident in Bristol.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. on August 24, a pedestrian was walking on Jerome Avenue, near Swanson Drive, when he was hit by a vehicle being driven by 22-year-old Clayton Nogiec. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries in the incident. Instead of stopping immediately, Nogiec fled the area. Authorities received a call from a good samaritan informing them of his possible location, and he was eventually apprehended on Farmington Avenue. According to police records, Nogiec was exhibiting erratic behavior when he was arrested. Officials later found a regulated substance in his possession. He currently faces several charges related to the incident. His next court date is on October 10.

Following this and other similar cases can be useful because it informs motorists of the circumstances surrounding road accidents that involve DUI, negligence or reckless behavior. In many situations, and with the help of legal experts, victims of these unfortunate events may have the option of filing for damages as this is an appropriate way for them to seek financial help and eventually find closure.

Enfield – Hit-And-Run Suspect Enters Plea

A driver responsible for a fatal incident in Enfield just pleaded guilty yesterday.

On December 2, 2016, 31-year-old Rocco Barile was driving his Chevrolet Silverado when he struck and killed then 20-year-old Jeremy Mercier in the area of 1443 Enfield Street (Route 5). Mercier sustained critical injuries in the hit and was pronounced dead soon after. Barile fled the scene immediately after the incident. He was eventually apprehended after authorities started looking for and interviewing owners of the same pickup truck in the area. In the months that followed, Barile was charged by Enfield police with evading responsibility, tampering with evidence, and misconduct with a motor vehicle. He has now entered a plea agreement with state prosecutors and scheduled to appear in court for his sentencing on January 2.

Authorities will always work hard to ensure that crash suspects are brought to justice. Whatever the final agreement or verdict, these culprits have to be made accountable for their actions. Having said that, victims of these incidents may also have legal avenues they can explore, particularly in cases where DUI, reckless behavior or negligence have been established. Talking to expert legal counsel can help them understand what these options are.

Suffield – Hit-And-Run Intersection Crash

Local officials are looking for a hit-and-run suspect following an intersection crash in Suffield last Sunday.

At approximately 5:26 p.m., two vehicles figured in an accident at the intersection of East and Bridge Streets (Routes 159 and 513, respectively). A white Ford F-150 was traveling north on East Street when it attempted to turn left towards Bridge Street, hitting another vehicle in the process. Instead of stopping, the driver of the truck immediately fled the scene. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the area to tend to a still unspecified number of motorists in the second vehicle. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are asking anyone who may have information about the crash to contact them as soon as possible. Based on data collected in the incident, the suspect vehicle should have damage on its front driver’s side.

Investigators would typically identify intersection crash causes promptly, allowing authorities to establish liability and bring culprits to justice. Obviously, instances of hit-and-run will only make things worse for suspects, particularly when officials eventually discover DUI, reckless behavior or negligence. These things said, victims of these unfortunate accidents have options at their disposal. Consulting legal experts should help them pursue these options when appropriate.
