Hamden – Man Shot Inside Car

A man was killed in a roadside incident in Hamden last Friday.

A few minutes before 9:00 p.m., authorities received reports of gunfire on 1126 Dixwell Avenue. Officers were immediately sent to the area and discovered 35-year-old Corey Gomes inside a Nissan Altima with a gunshot injury. Hamden – Officer Injured In Crash

A local officer was injured in a vehicle crash in Hamden late Tuesday evening.

A Hamden Police officer was traveling on Benham Street, trying to locate a suspect involved in another incident on Mix Avenue, when the officer was struck by another vehicle driven by Michael Uihlein. On May 26, 74-year-old Robert Sheard of Hamden was on his mobility scooter and attempting to cross Dixwell Avenue right in front of the Miller Memorial Library when he was struck by a car, throwing him off the scooter. The striking car was traveling west and driven by 69-year-old Rosemary Kaliscak of Middletown. Sheard was immediately transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he eventually died due to his injuries. Kaliscak was charged yesterday with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and is scheduled to appear in court on November 26.
