East Windsor – Fatal Rollover Crash

A truck with two occupants rolled over on the highway in East Windsor last Sunday evening.

44-year-old Russell Jacobs III of Massachusetts was driving north on I-91 with a passenger, 37-year-old Athena Hunter, also from Massachusetts. At approximately 8:30 p.m. the pickup truck they were riding in suddenly veered off the highway at Exit 45 (Route 140), crashing into a guardrail before rolling over. Hunter incurred minor injuries and was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment, while Jacobs sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Current data available does not indicate the involvement of other vehicles in the incident. The crash is under active investigation. Authorities will release more info when appropriate.

One person was trapped inside one of the vehicles and had to be extricated by emergency crews. The victim sustained injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment. Environmental crews were also requested to perform cleanup operations in the area. The crash is currently under investigation. Authorities are asking possible witnesses to contact them as soon as possible.

Emergency crews are always ready and willing to respond to any road incident and are particularly useful in accidents involving vehicle entrapment. These are obviously serious incidents and must be investigated thoroughly so that culprits can be brought to justice. It’s also important to note that victims of these unfortunate events may have options at their disposal if investigators discover DUI, reckless behavior or negligence. Injuries were reported after an accident in East Windsor early yesterday morning.

Officials closed down Route 140 between the intersection of Broad Brook and Melrose Roads and the intersection of Sadds Mill and Reeves Roads (in Ellington) following an early morning crash. According to authorities, a white SUV traveling in the area suddenly swerved off the roadway, crashing into a utility pole. Fire and EMS crews were immediately dispatched to the area to assist a still unspecified number of motorists injured in the crash. Utility companies were also called in to repair all damaged roadside structures. The crash is currently under investigation. More information will be provided as soon as they become available.

This type of accident can be caused by various factors. But in the absence of any apparent culprit, less obvious possibilities, such as product defects, will also be investigated. Whatever the outcome, if authorities discover any form of negligence, victims not responsible for these incidents can consult legal experts to determine what their options are in terms of filing for damages.

East Windsor – Wrong-Way Crash On I-91

Last Saturday, May 11, a crash involving two vehicles occurred in I-91 South at around 2:30 a.m.

The incident happened between exits 44 and 45. The first car, a Honda Civic driven by Dashawn McDaniel of Springfield, MA was running on the center lane, headed south. The second car, another Honda Civic driven by Richard Mingione of Branford with Lyle Olson of Montville as his passenger, was also running on the center lane but was headed north. Both cars were on the southbound side of I-91 and were severely damaged in the head-on collision.

Connecticut State Police reported that McDaniel sustained serious injuries and was brought to Hartford Hospital. Mingione and Olson, on the other hand, were transported to Saint Francis Hospital. Several lanes of the southbound side of I-91 were closed immediately following the crash but were eventually reopened at around 6:30 a.m. The cause of the incident is still being determined.

Head-on automobile collisions can be difficult to investigate, but certain elements can immediately identify the offending party. In this case, one of the cars was driving against the normal traffic flow. Personal injuries caused by negligence or violating traffic laws are protected under Connecticut law, and aggrieved parties can legally ask for compensation.
