Emergency personnel were dispatched to the southbound side of I-95 following reports of an accident. Responders arrived in the area at approximately 1:27 p.m. and discovered a crash about a third of a mile before Exit 74 (Flanders Road/Route 161). A still-unspecified number of motorists sustained injuries in the incident and had to be assisted by responding paramedics. No word yet on the number of vehicles involved. Everyone affected was accounted for, and the crash scene cleared, at approximately 1:44 p.m. The case is currently under investigation. Updates will be provided when officials release more info.

We can be assured that officials will always exhaust all means to protect the public and bring accident culprits to justice. Establishing liability is particularly important because it may also allow injured parties to consult legal experts to determine if filing for damages can be a suitable course of action.

East Lyme – Charges In Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Officials just filed charges against a driver who killed a motorcyclist in East Lyme.

On July 28, 42-year-old Frank A. Barabas, Jr. was riding his motorcycle on Route 1 when he was hit by a car driven by 37-year-old Kimberly Zoller. The collision occurred in front of 516 Boston Post Road. Barabas, Jr. was killed in the crash, while Zoller was taken to the hospital for treatment. After a thorough investigation of the case, an arrest warrant for Zoller was released yesterday, and she has since posted a bond. She is facing a charge of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, with her next court date scheduled for October 24.

In many cases, investigators have to spend months investigating incidents before making their conclusions. Their dedication cannot be overstated and is obviously important if culprits are to be brought to justice. East Lyme – Early Morning Highway Accident

A highway accident occurred in East Lyme early yesterday morning.

The incident occurred on the northbound lanes of I-95, about half a mile before Exit 73 (Society Road). Fire and EMS crews quickly arrived at the scene and discovered a still unspecified number of vehicles involved in a crash that resulted in injuries. Medical personnel have since tended to everyone affected by the incident. The crash was first reported at approximately 6:46 a.m., and it took about an hour before road crews were able to clear the accident site. Officials are still investigating the incident and will release more information when appropriate.

Early morning/rush hour accidents tend to cause heavy delays, particularly on highways. Preventing future accidents depends on the accurate identification of crash causes/culprits so that authorities can address these factors head-on. As an additional benefit, establishing liability can also allow crash victims to file for damages in cases where negligence are discovered.

East Lyme – Motorists Injured In Highway Incident

A vehicle with two occupants collided with a tractor-trailer in East Lyme yesterday morning.

29-year-old Angel Acosta of Hamden was driving his Toyota on I-95 with 29-year-old Bianca Lopez when they collided with a tractor-trailer in the area of Exit 74. The driver of the tractor-trailer tried to change lanes just as Acosta was attempting to pass the vehicle, forcing the Toyota to hit the semi before crashing into the center barrier. Acosta sustained minor injuries and was immediately brought to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. His passenger, Lopez, was trapped inside their vehicle and had to be extricated by fire crews before being airlifted (LifeStar) to Hartford Hospital for treatment for serious injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop after the collision, and officials believe the operator did not notice what happened behind him.

LifeStar support is often requested when accidents occur in inaccessible areas or, more often than not, in incidents with serious/critical injuries. Authorities need to accurately identify the causes of these collisions so that future incidents can be avoided. The identification of culprits also means victims can explore various options related to filing for damages with the help of their legal counsel.

A motorcycle accident in East Lyme last Saturday evening is currently being investigated by authorities.

A rider was brought to the hospital by emergency crews after a crash on Route 156 (Main Street), near the East Lyme-Waterford town line. The victim sustained serious injuries in the accident, was first brought to an area hospital, but was then transported by LifeStar to Hartford Hospital for further treatment. If any form of negligence is discovered in these cases, injured motorists may be entitled to damages/compensation under appropriate situations.
