Brookfield – Fatal Pedestrian Accident

A senior was hit and killed by an SUV in Brookfield last Friday morning.

At around 10:00 a.m., 76-year-old Linder Warner was walking in the area of 279 Candlewood Lake Road when she was struck by an SUV driven by 50-year-old Gary Elwell. Responders arrived at the scene just a few minutes later to assist Warner who sustained critical injuries. She was immediately taken to Danbury Hospital where she was pronounced dead soon after. Elwell stayed at the scene and was not hurt. Local police blocked off the area to allow crash investigators to study the scene. The case is still being investigated.

It’s not uncommon for this type of accident to result in serious injuries, so causes/culprits must be quickly identified and brought to justice. Based on already available evidence, this specific accident seems to be just that: an accident. That said, if investigators discover reckless behavior, negligence or DUI, the family of the victim will have legal avenues they can explore to help them find closure, one of which would be filing for damages.
