Southbury – Fatalities After Head-On Collision

Two vehicles collided head-on in Southbury last Saturday morning.

48-year-old Diego Jimenez was driving his vehicle westbound on I-84 when he collided with another vehicle driven by 46-year-old David Hozer between Exits 16 and 15. According to authorities, Hozer was driving in the wrong direction when the crash occurred. Both motorists sustained critical injuries in the collision. Jimenez was taken to Waterbury Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, while Hozer was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he eventually died yesterday (Sunday). Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them as soon as possible.

The details already available regarding this case point to one person as the culprit. That said, investigators will still look at all possibilities before making a conclusion.  This is important to victims or their families because establishing accountability can help parties involved seek justice and find closure, particularly when reckless behavior, DUI or negligence are discovered.
