Southbury – Car Falls Down Brook

Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash in Southbury last Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to South Britain Road at around 2:00 p.m. and found an overturned car in the Transylvania Brook. According to initial reports, the vehicle suddenly swerved off the roadway, falling into the brook. The driver sustained injuries but was able to self-extricate. No word yet on whether or not other vehicles were involved in the crash. State environmental officials were also called in after responders noticed vehicle fluids seeping from the car and into the waterway. The incident is currently under investigation. This story will be updated as soon as more info becomes available.

Some single-vehicle accidents do not exhibit immediately apparent causes. It’s in these cases where witness reports and expert investigations work hand in hand to achieve the goal of establishing accountability. Obviously, this is important so that culprits can be brought to justice. What’s also important but less obvious is the option of crash victims to file for damages if they are cleared of any wrongdoing and if these incidents involve some form of negligence.
