Shelton – Truck-Car Collision

A car and a gas truck figured in a crash in Shelton last Saturday afternoon.

Emergency responders arrived at the intersection of Leavenworth (Route 110) and Indian Well Roads and discovered a collision between a car and a truck carrying propane. A utility pole was also heavily damaged after it was hit by the truck. At least one motorist was trapped inside the car and had to be extricated by firefighters. The victim sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities have yet to describe the status of other motorists involved in the incident pending an investigation. Local road crews and representatives from United Illuminating have since started repairing all damaged structures in the crash site.

It is likely that, in the absence of any vehicle defect/failure, this type of crash could be caused by reckless or negligent behavior. Of course, authorities will explore all possibilities when investigating these cases so that responsible parties can be made liable. Suspects/culprits can face charges filed either by the state or by individuals injured in these road incidents.
