Shelton – Rush-Hour Highway Crash

A vehicle crash blocked off a portion of the highway in Shelton late yesterday afternoon.

State and local authorities received reports of the crash at 5:49 p.m. Responders were quickly sent to the northbound lanes of Route 8 and discovered an accident that occurred less than a quarter of a mile before Exit 14 (Kneen Street). The exact number of vehicles and motorists involved in the incident has yet to be disclosed, but authorities requested fire and EMS support on-site. A section of the highway was blocked for about half an hour while injured parties were tended to and debris was cleared from the scene. The crash is now under investigation. More details will follow.

Cleanup operations are important in processing crash sites, simply because leftover debris can cause additional accidents and injuries — there have been instances of this happening in the past. That said, identifying the causes of these incidents and bringing culprits to justice are the primary goals. These processes will also allow injured parties to pursue their own legal avenues in cases where negligence is involved.
