Putnam – Pedestrian Injured In Crash
A runner was seriously hurt after she was hit by a vehicle in Putnam yesterday morning.
At around 9:50 a.m., local authorities received reports of an incident on Woodstock Avenue and immediately dispatched emergency crews to the area. A pedestrian was jogging north when she was struck by a vehicle traveling south on the roadway. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to Day Kimball Hospital. She was later transferred to UMass Medical Center for further treatment. Officials have yet to identify the cause of the incident and are asking anyone who may have witnessed it to contact them as soon as possible.
While pedestrians are usually at the losing end of incidents between them and vehicles, assumptions should not be made with regard to liability until authorities have identified the causes of these encounters. Suffice it to say, people injured in these situations may have options at their disposal to be determined by legal experts who can help them make informed choices.
