Orange – Officer Hit By Senior Driver
A local officer was hit by a vehicle while responding to an accident in Orange last Thursday evening.
Officer Chris Brown, a veteran member of the law enforcement community, responded to a crash report on Marsh Hill Road, near Outback Steakhouse. Upon arrival, he left his vehicle and carefully approached the driver’s side of a disabled vehicle on the southbound side of the roadway. At this point, a white 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by 76-year-old Arthur Schultz passed by the crash site and hit Officer Brown. Emergency responders quickly transported the victim to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment. Schultz immediately stopped after hitting Brown and has cooperated with authorities. The incident is still under investigation.
While ill-intent is not apparent in this incident, investigators will still look at all possibilities so that liability can be accurately established.
