Old Saybrook – Vehicle Drives Off Roadway

A vehicle veered off the roadway in Old Saybrook last Tuesday.

Emergency crews from different towns converged on the Exit 66 (Route 166) on-ramp to I-95 North following reports of a crash in the area. According to responders, a vehicle swerved off the roadway before falling into an embankment. Heavy damage and serious injuries were reported, though authorities have yet to specify the number of motorists involved in the crash. Medical personnel have since tended to everyone inside the crashed vehicle and the case is currently under active investigation. Updates will be provided when officials release more info.

Despite the presence of various roadside structures (guardrails, etc.) that help mitigate the effects of vehicle crashes, this type of accident still occurs and can result in serious injuries. Instances of reckless behavior or negligence have resulted in similar situations in the past, so these possibilities will have to be explored by investigators. That said, anyone injured in similar scenarios can seek legal help so that his/her options can be thoroughly explored.
