Old Saybrook – Multiple Injuries In Bus Accident

Ten people were injured in a bus-truck collision in Old Saybrook last Wednesday.

A few minutes before 11:00 p.m., a bus carrying passengers was traveling on the northbound side of I-95 when it started approaching a construction zone near Exit 67. According to officials, instead of slowing down, the driver maintained a speed too fast for conditions. Because of this, the bus rear-ended a Department of Transportation truck carrying equipment needed for road work. Nine bus passengers sustained injuries and were tended to by emergency responders. The driver of the DOT truck, 54-year-old Rowan Monington, Jr., was also injured in the collision. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and will release more info when appropriate.

Several factors could have caused this accident, and authorities will explore all possibilities so that liability can be accurately established. Having said that, if reckless behavior or negligence is discovered, injured parties may pursue various options as determined by legal experts.
