Newtown – Truck Crashes On Highway
A truck figured in an accident in Newtown yesterday afternoon.
A portion of the eastbound side of I-84 was blocked off following a crash that occurred about half a mile past Exit 9 (Route 25). Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the area to assist motorists injured in an accident involving a still-unspecified number of vehicles but at least one truck. Officials have yet to provide specifics but did mention it took road crews almost two hours to clear the site of all obstructions. The crash is currently under investigation. Updates will be provided as soon as authorities release more info.
An expected but unfortunate side effect of truck accidents is the time needed to clear these crash sites, particularly when involved vehicles have been disabled/rendered inoperable. These tend to result in heavy delays surrounding accident scenes, which makes processing and clearing these areas an important goal for responders. These things said, the final goal would always be to identify crash culprits and bring these parties to justice. This will also allow injured parties to explore options that can help them cope post-accident and eventually find closure.
