Newtown – Rollover Crash
A rollover crash occurred in Newtown yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 1:40 p.m., fire and EMS crews arrived on the northbound side of Route 25 (South Main Street), just past Button Shop Road, and discovered a tractor-trailer that had overturned in the area. Responders quickly tended to the driver of the vehicle, while other crews closed down the scene to facilitate an investigation of the crash. Motorists on Route 25 experienced heavy delays due to the incident, while emergency crews stayed at the site well into the evening. Officials have yet to identify the driver of the semi and if other vehicles were involved in the crash. They will release updates as their investigation progresses.
Road accidents involving trucks can frequently result in heavy delays and serious injuries. Identifying the causes of these accidents can help authorities make changes that will improve road safety for everyone. Also, in cases involving DUI, reckless behavior or negligence, this would have the secondary benefit of allowing injured parties to file for damages with the help of expert legal counsel.
