The incident occurred near the intersections of Elm and York Streets and Broadway. A pedestrian was struck and injured by a bus traveling in the area. Officials have confirmed that the vehicle in question is a CT Transit bus. Emergency teams quickly blocked off the area to allow them to safely assist the victim, as well as investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities have yet to identify the pedestrian or provide additional info. This post will be updated as more details are released.
Many pedestrian accidents present similar circumstances: intersections, low visibility, and the absence of obvious causes. Authorities are expected to investigate these incidents thoroughly as data gathered can help them make changes that should improve road safety for everyone. That said, negligent behavior should not be tolerated, and liable parties may face charges/claims filed by the state and parties they have injured.
