Mystic – Complaint Filed After Crash
Yesterday, a complaint was filed in a New London Superior Court related to a DUI crash that injured and killed an elderly couple in Mystic.
Seth and Joanna Wakeman of Stonington were in front of Latitude 41 Restaurant on Greenmanville Avenue (also known as Route 27) when they were hit by a car driven by Carol M. Belli. The elderly couple was killed in the incident. Belli was discovered to be under the influence at that time and has since been charged with DUI by officials. But Belli has yet to be charged in connection to the couple’s death, the main premise of the complaint. The plaintiff (Wakemans’ estate) and respondent (Stonington Police) have since released statements and the complaint is scheduled for its first hearing on June 17.
