Meriden – Pedestrian Crash Update
Authorities just released an update regarding last Tuesday’s pedestrian incident in Meriden.
57-year-old Maria Betancourt-Gamboa was walking in front of 450 East Main Street when she was struck by an SUV. She sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital by responders. She is still in critical condition. Officials have now identified the driver of the SUV as Emad Zaitoun of Meriden. Zaitoun immediately stopped after hitting Betancourt-Gamboa and has cooperated with authorities. The case is still under active investigation. More updates will follow.
The driver involved in this incident was not under the influence at the time of the crash. Still, authorities will continue to investigate this case until accountability is sufficiently established. Having said that, pedestrians injured in similar scenarios are advised to seek legal guidance so that experts can review their cases and recommend appropriate courses of action.
