Litchfield – Fatal Barn Accident
A farmer was killed in an accident in Litchfield last Monday.
35-year-old Joseph Bunnell was operating a skid steer in a barn located just off of Bigos Road when he was accidentally pinned between the chassis and the hydraulic arm of the machine. At around 6:00 p.m., he was discovered by a local resident who then contacted officials. The victim was quickly transported to the hospital but was eventually pronounced dead. Bunnell was working alone at the time of the incident. Authorities are currently investigating the case and will release more info when appropriate.
Workplace accidents can occur under a myriad of circumstances and will always be thoroughly investigated for signs of negligence. Dismissing most of these cases as mere accidents is understandable. Having said that, the discovery of any form of negligence, including possible equipment defects, can allow aggrieved parties to file claims against liable individuals.
