Harwinton – Fatality In ATV Accident

An ATV rider was killed in a crash in Harwinton last Sunday.

At approximately 9:15 a.m., local officials responded to a forested area off Bissell Road after receiving reports of a found body. Upon arriving at the scene, officials discovered 61-year-old James Delevieleuse of Cheshire dead. According to an initial investigation of the incident, Delevieleuse was riding his ATV in the area when he crashed, sustaining critical injuries in the process. Officials have yet to discover any sign of another vehicle that might have been involved in the crash. The case is still under investigation, and local authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them as soon as possible.

In the absence of readily observable causes, authorities will look at less-obvious possibilities, including product/vehicle defects, when investigating incidents that result in injuries or deaths. Suffice it to say, establishing accountability/liability is their primary objective in these cases. Not only is this important to officials seeking justice, but also to victims (or their families) who have to make sense of these unfortunate situations and eventually find closure.
