Hartford – Fatal Highway Crash

A motorist was killed in an interstate crash in Hartford last Saturday.

The incident occurred on I-84 West. At around 1:00 a.m., 18-year-old Christian Cruz of New Britain was traveling with another person when the vehicle they were in veered off its proper lane, crashing into the center barrier of the highway. Cruz sustained critical injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital. His passenger sustained minor injuries and was also hospitalized. According to reports, Cruz was not wearing his safety belt while his passenger was. There is no evidence suggesting that other vehicles were involved in the incident. The case is currently under investigation and authorities are asking witnesses to contact them right away.

The number of lives saved by safety belts and other features installed in practically all vehicles cannot be overstated. Negligence is frequently involved in similar cases, so this will be looked at by investigators. Victims of these situations or their families are advised to seek legal guidance as it’s important that their options are explored and pursued if appropriate.
