Hamden – Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in Hamden early yesterday morning.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., 31-year-old Pinky McBurrows of Ansonia was traveling north on Dixwell Avenue when her vehicle suddenly swerved off the roadway near Woodin Street, crashing into a bus stop with two waiting pedestrians. The first victim, a still-unidentified 59-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital. The second pedestrian, 57-year-old Maurice Messier, incurred critical injuries and died at the hospital. McBurrows reportedly fled the crash site but was eventually apprehended by officers. She is now facing multiple charges related to the incident. This story will be updated when authorities release more info.
