Glastonbury – Hit-And-Run Suspect/Vehicle Identified

Authorities have apprehended a suspect in last Thursday’s pedestrian incident in Glastonbury.

Last Thursday afternoon, 84-year-old Valda Dienavs was attempting to cross Griswold Street to retrieve her mail when she was struck by a vehicle. Dienavs sustained critical injuries and was declared dead. Yesterday, officials released an update confirming that a suspect in the fatal incident has been apprehended and the striking vehicle found. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the 17-year-old female motorist and are still investigating the crash. More updates will be provided as soon as officials release more info.

It is safe to assume that panic plays a part in many hit-and-run incidents. That said, negligent behavior should not be tolerated and liable parties should be taken off the road. Injuries or deaths caused by this factor may, under appropriate circumstances, also allow victims or their next-of-kin to pursue claims against these reckless individuals. Legal experts can help us understand what these possible avenues could be.
