Darien – Highway Crash Update

Authorities just released an update regarding last Sunday’s highway crash in Darien.

Officials have identified the victims of the single-vehicle crash on the northbound lanes of I-95. A Volkswagen Passat suddenly swerved off the roadway between Exits 9 and 10, crashing into a tree before coming to a stop. The vehicle had five occupants when the accident occurred. 19-year-old Victor Emanuel Deleon of Norwalk sustained critical injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. 19-year-old Indira S. Rivera, the driver of the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. 19-year-old Chase Ortiz, 20-year-old Julius C. Beau, and 20-year-old Jordan A. Palmer also sustained serious injuries and were brought to the hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation. Authorities will release more updates as their investigation progresses.

Officials handling this case have yet to identify the cause of the crash. In the absence of immediately obvious causes, other factors, such as product defects, might also be considered. Having said that, and whatever the outcome of the investigation, if authorities discover any form of negligence, injured parties not responsible for the incident can consult legal experts to pursue options that can help them find closure.
