Darien – Charges For DUI Suspect

Authorities just filed charges against a motorist suspected of DUI in Darien.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on September 20, a Buick sedan and a Honda Civic collided at the intersection of Hampton and Post Roads. The occupants of both vehicles sustained injuries in the collision. A subsequent investigation revealed that 28-year-old Lakeem Jetter, the driver of the Buick, was under the influence and driving erratically at the time of the crash. He was swerving in and out of his lane, and this led to the head-on collision with the second vehicle. Jetter has since been charged with failure to drive right, failure to insure a motor vehicle and driving under the influence. He turned himself in last week and is scheduled to appear in court on November 18.

Driving under the influence is, obviously, a serious offense and will only aggravate cases against suspects. There are strict laws governing people’s behavior while operating a motor vehicle and we should take note of this if ever we or our loved ones are injured in similar events.
