Cromwell – Closure After Highway Accident
A section of the highway in Cromwell was blocked after a vehicle accident yesterday afternoon.
At around 4:10 p.m., officials responded to the southbound lanes of I-91 and immediately cordoned off the area after discovering a vehicle crash at Exit 21. EMS crews were quickly requested to assist everyone injured in the incident involving a still unspecified number of vehicles. It took a while for road crews to clear the site of all obstructions — all lanes were cleared at approximately 5:50 p.m. Victims’ identities have yet to be disclosed pending an investigation into the cause of the crash. This post will be updated with more information as they become available.
It is not unusual for emergency crews to take their time in clearing various road accidents as assisting injured motorists and allowing investigators to collect evidence are necessary steps. Having said that, it can be a good indicator of the severity of a particular incident, which makes establishing accountability as important as ever. Causes/culprits must be brought to justice, while victims should be given ample opportunities to find closure, even seeking damage claims if appropriate.
