Colchester – Man Awarded Damages In Settlement
A man injured in a July 2017 highway incident in Colchester has been awarded $250,000 in damages.
63-year-old Edward Johnson from Norwich was driving his tractor-trailer west on Route 2 crossing Colchester when a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by Brendan Callis, swerved onto Route 2 from an access road, crashing into his truck in the process. Johnson sustained head and neck injuries in the collision. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Callis was cited for reckless driving and was charged with negligence soon after. Johnson continues to experience pain and requires medication to this day, but is satisfied with the settlement as it allows him to find closure after the traumatic event.
