Bridgeport – Two Victims In Shooting Incident
Two individuals sustained gunshot wounds in an incident in Bridgeport early Sunday evening.
Authorities received a ShotSpotter notification on Highland Avenue at approximately 5:37 p.m. Responders discovered two individuals with gunshot injuries in the area. An 18-year-old male who was shot twice was immediately transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he eventually died. Another victim, a 21-year-old male with multiple injuries, was transported to Bridgeport Hospital and is expected to survive. Officials are currently investigating the incident and are asking possible witnesses to help apprehend the still-unidentified assailants.
Resolving these cases typically require the involvement of witnesses as suspects are rarely apprehended at crime scenes. Reckless or negligent behavior is almost always involved in these situations, so bringing culprits to justice will only make our communities safer. That said, injuries caused by negligence can allow victims to review and possibly pursue damage claims against responsible parties. Legal experts can help us understand these avenues and can make appropriate suggestions.
