Bridgeport – Shooting Incident Update
Authorities just released an update regarding last Sunday’s shooting incident in Bridgeport.
At approximately 1:00 a.m., a person was seriously hurt after she was shot by a still-unidentified assailant. The victim sustained a head injury but remained responsive when emergency responders arrived. Officials have now identified the victim as a 16-year-old female. According to authorities, the victim was inside a vehicle when she was shot, triggering a ShotSpotter notification at the intersection of Calhoun Avenue and James Street. She was then dropped off on Cottage Street. The incident is still under active investigation, and officials are asking anyone with relevant info to contact them right away.
These cases can be challenging to investigate as suspects almost always flee incident sites. Officials typically have to rely on witness reports if culprits are to be apprehended.
