At approximately 8:49 p.m., a motorist traveling on Fairfield Avenue (Route 130) reportedly experienced a seizure while driving, hitting a pedestrian near Main Street. The victim was trapped under the vehicle for a while but was able to self-extricate. Emergency crews quickly responded to the area and assisted everyone involved in the incident. Officials have withheld the identities of the driver and pedestrian pending a thorough investigation. More details will be released as they become available.
Details already available in this case seem to identify the driver of the vehicle as the culprit. That said, authorities will look at all possibilities before making a conclusion. Whatever the outcome, if they discover negligence, DUI or reckless behavior not attributed to the victim, he/she may have options that can be discussed with expert legal counsel.
