Berlin – Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Crash

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Berlin late Wednesday evening.

Local authorities are currently investigating an incident that occurred in front of 319 New Britain Road. At approximately 10:40 p.m., officials responded to reports of the incident and discovered a pedestrian who was killed after getting hit by an unidentified vehicle. Instead of stopping, the driver of the car fled the area. The victim’s identity has yet to be released as family members/next of kin are still being contacted. Authorities are now looking for the suspect and are asking anyone who may have relevant info to contact them as soon as possible.

Hitting a pedestrian while operating a vehicle is already a serious offense, and instances of hit-and-run will only make things worse for suspects. Authorities are expected to exhaust all means to establish accountability and bring these culprits to justice. This process can also benefit injured parties because they may have the option of filing for damages in specific cases and with the help of expert legal counsel.

Newtown – Highway Truck Crash

A motorist was seriously hurt when his truck crashed on the highway in Newtown early yesterday morning.

The incident occurred a few minutes before 4:00 a.m. on I-84. Fire and EMS crews quickly dispatched to the area and discovered a black GMC pickup truck that had collided with construction equipment on the Exit 11 (Wasserman Way) off-ramp. The vehicle incurred heavy damage in the collision, while the still-unidentified driver sustained serious injuries. The victim was also trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by responding firefighters. The crash is currently under investigation. Updates to this story will be provided as soon as more info becomes available.

Authorities handling this case have yet to collect enough evidence to accurately identify the cause of the crash. Suffice it to say, they will eventually be able to establish accountability so that justice can be appropriately served. Whatever the outcome, if reckless behavior or negligence is discovered, any injured party not responsible for the incident may have the option to seek damages with the help of expert legal counsel.

Norwich – Highway Vehicle Crash

Authorities were alerted to a highway crash in Norwich late yesterday afternoon.

At around 5:40 p.m., officials received reports of a crash on the northbound side of I-395, about a mile past Exit 11 (Salem Turnpike/Route 82). Fire and EMS crews were quickly dispatched to the area and discovered an accident involving an unspecified number of vehicles. Injuries were reported, and medical personnel immediately tended to everyone involved in the incident. The crash blocked off a portion of the highway that road crews were able to clear about half an hour later. The incident is currently under investigation. Authorities have yet to identify anyone and will do so, as well as release more info, when appropriate.

In practically all instances, authorities would respond to any road incident across the state in a matter of minutes. This not only highlights the dedication officials have in promoting road safety but also their constant goal of identifying crash causes so that these issues can be effectively addressed. These things said, motorists should also be aware of their legal options when involved/injured in various accidents. Legal experts can help them understand these options, as well as create courses of action that can help them cope and find closure.

Newtown – Rollover Crash

An SUV crashed and rolled over in Newtown late Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of 51 The Old Road at approximately 5:41 p.m. According to reports, an SUV was on a curved section of the roadway when it swerved onto the curb, losing control and crashing into a tree, rolling over before coming to a stop. Jake Dandrea and Steven Berard, the driver and passenger in the vehicle, and both 16 years old, were evaluated and treated on-site by EMS responders. The crash was investigated, and Dandrea was eventually issued a ticket for failure to drive to the right.

It’s apparent that the driver involved in this incident exhibited negligent behavior that probably resulted in the crash. It’s important for us to remember that whatever the circumstances of any accident, parties injured due to reckless behavior or negligence can always consult legal experts who can study their cases and determine if certain options related to seeking damages would be available to them.

Middlefield – Pole Crash With Injuries

A vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Middlefield yesterday morning.

Local officials responded to an area on Main Street after receiving reports of a crash in the area. According to responders, a vehicle swerved off the roadway and crashed into a utility pole. The impact was strong enough that the pole was snapped in half following the collision. No word yet on the number of motorists involved in the incident, but all injured parties have already been tended to by responding EMS crews. The incident resulted in the temporary closure of Main Street as authorities investigated in the accident. This post will be updated as soon as more info becomes available.

Current weather conditions across the state have resulted in downed trees and utility poles, as well as scattered debris on many roads, including major thoroughfares. Motorists are advised to take extra precautions while operating their vehicles. Regardless of weather conditions, though, authorities will always be ready to respond to and investigate any road incident. This is noteworthy because protecting the safety and upholding the rights of all motorists are constant goals for state and local officials. We need to remember this if ever we or our loved ones are involved in any road incident that results in injuries.

Westport – Blockage After Multi-Vehicle Crash

A portion of the highway in Westport was blocked following an accident yesterday morning.

Reports came in of a highway incident a few minutes past 8:00 a.m. Emergency crews immediately responded to the southbound lanes of I-95 and discovered a two-car crash that occurred between Exits 19 and 18. The left lane was blocked off following the crash to allow medical personnel to assist everyone injured in the incident. No word yet on the number of people affected, though everyone has been accounted for and treated. Authorities advised motorists in the area to seek alternate routes while the crash site was being cleared. The incident is currently under active investigation. Officials have yet to identify anyone or otherwise provide specifics. They will do so when appropriate.

It’s only appropriate that crash sites are blocked off so that responders can process and clear these areas without the risk of getting injured themselves. Obviously, an important aspect of this process is investigating these accident scenes so that culprits can be made responsible for their actions. Not only that, this may also allow victims to seek damages in cases where negligence is involved.

Hartford – Warrant Issued In Fatal Crash

An arrest warrant was issued yesterday in connection with a recent motorcycle incident in Hartford.

On the night of August 11, 54-year-old Alfred Levy was riding his 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1 and attempting to cross the intersection of Park Avenue and Main Street when a Dodge Durango hit him. Levy sustained critical injuries in the high-speed crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the SUV fled the area, leaving their vehicle a few feet away from the victim. 30-year-old Sean Steven of Manchester was eventually identified as the operator of the vehicle. A subsequent investigation, which included witness reports and a review of the events preceding the collision, points to ill-intent on the part of Steven. He was initially charged with reckless endangerment, evading responsibility and driving with a suspended license. But after a review of all details in the case, Steven is now facing an additional charge of first-degree manslaughter in the death of Levy. Steven is currently on bail and scheduled to appear in court on October 24.

Following this and other similar cases inform us of the circumstances surrounding road incidents involving motorcycles, instances of hit-and-run, and reckless behavior. As motorists plying various roads in the state, we should all be aware of our legal rights and options if ever we or our loved ones are involved or injured in accidents. We usually have options at our disposal, and more so in cases where negligence is involved. Consulting legal experts should prove to be beneficial in these scenarios.

Seymour – Crash Update

Authorities just released more info regarding last Wednesday’s crash in Seymour.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., 65-year-old Marguerite Jachimowski was driving her 2005 Mercury Sable on Holbrook Road when her foot got stuck under the brake pedal as the vehicle approached Jacko Drive. Because of this, her vehicle was forced off the roadway and into an embankment. Jachimowski sustained serious injuries in the crash and was trapped inside her car. She was eventually extricated by responding firefighters and treated by medical personnel. The incident is still under investigation. More updates will be provided when appropriate.

Evidence already available in this case seems to point to driver error as the cause. But the fact that the driver’s foot was trapped under the brake pedal and why that happened in the first place merits a more comprehensive investigation of the incident. There have been many instances of product defects/failures causing accidents in the past, so these factors should not be overlooked despite the relative condition of the involved vehicle and the age of the operator. Whatever the outcome, if any form of negligence not associated with the driver is discovered, she (and other motorists in similar situations) may have legal options at her disposal, avenues that can help her cope and eventually find closure.

Westport – Road Worker Hit By Car

A construction worker was struck by a vehicle in Westport last Tuesday evening.

A few minutes past 9:00 p.m., a road construction worker was on-duty in front of 300 Post Road West when he was struck by a passing vehicle. He sustained serious injuries and was transported by responders to Norwalk Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car immediately stopped and is cooperating with authorities. Several state and local agencies responded to the incident and temporarily closed the roadway around the accident site to investigate its cause. The roadway has since been cleared. The case is still under active investigation. More details, including the identity of all parties involved, will be released when appropriate.

Pedestrians hit by various vehicles almost always sustain injuries, though in some cases liability can be challenging to establish. That said, victims can be assured that authorities will exhaust all means to identify the causes/culprits of these incidents. Also, victims need to be aware of their legal rights and options in cases where negligence has been discovered. Talking to legal experts can help them make sense of these options.

Bridgeport – Rollover Crash Update

Local officials just released an update regarding last Tuesday’s intersection crash in Bridgeport.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard. Three vehicles were involved in the crash, with one vehicle resting on its roof when emergency responders arrived. One motorist was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment of injuries, while other parties were evaluated on-site. After an initial investigation of the incident, authorities have released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the intersection crash. According to reports, the driver of one vehicle drove through a stop sign and was overspeeding. This led to that vehicle crashing into a second vehicle that rolled over due to the severity of the impact. The vehicle that overturned also hit a third vehicle due to the first collision. Based on the evidence that authorities have gathered so far, a misdemeanor summons has been issued against the driver of the overspeeding vehicle. Officials have yet to identify any party involved in the incident and will do so when appropriate.

It is now apparent that at least one party exhibited reckless behavior that resulted in this crash. This is noteworthy because, in incidents where reckless or negligent behavior has been established, injured parties may have the option of seeking damages under proper circumstances and with the guidance of expert legal counsel.
