Bethel – Hit-And-Run Incident
A dog was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Bethel last Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., officials were dispatched to Hoyt Road following reports of a crash in the area. According to witnesses, a male dog was struck and killed by a passing vehicle whose driver immediately fled the area. The owner of the Shih Tzu did not see the license plate of the vehicle but reported it as a truck with a dark-colored paint. Authorities are now investigating the case and are expected to release updates when appropriate.
While the legal ramifications of vehicles hitting dogs or other domesticated animals could be different compared to situations involving people, the fact remains that hit-and-run is a serious violation and offenders should be apprehended immediately. It would make sense to consult legal experts if ever we are involved in similar situations so that any appropriate course of action can be properly discussed.
