Ansonia – Delays After Truck Crash
A truck pulling a trailer figured in a crash in Ansonia last Sunday.
The accident occurred on the northbound side of Route 8, just before the Exit 19 off-ramp (Wakelee Avenue). According to emergency responders, a pickup truck pulling a boat on a trailer crashed in the area, scattering fish and equipment over a wide portion of the highway. This forced road crews to block off the affected areas, resulting in delays that lasted for around an hour. Four motorists sustained injuries in the crash and were treated by EMS crews on site. All lanes have since been cleared, but the incident is still under investigation.
For road incidents similar to this, emergency crews have to prioritize the clearing of crash sites as quickly as possible so that collateral effects, such as delays, can be minimized or entirely avoided. That said, the identification of accident causes remains their primary objective, and this is imperative so that victims of these incidents will have the option of not just seeking justice, but also finding closure by filing for damages under appropriate circumstances.
